Abstract: The present invention relates to a high performance, improved, formaldehyde-free lignin–terephthalaldehyde resin (LTR) having superior thermal stability, better processability, and improved wettability over phenol–formaldehyde resin (PFR), along with a laminated composite prepared with said resin. The present invention also provides an industrially scalable method for manufacturing the lignin–terephthalaldehyde resin (LTR). The invention provides a viable, a sustainable, and an alternative solution for manufacturing formaldehyde-free lignin–terephthalaldehyde resin (LTR) for manufacturing laminate composites for construction, furniture, and interior design industries.
