Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel herbal transdermal patch for controlled delivery of anti-inflammatory actives from Moringa oleifera (standardized to 2% quercetin, 12% w/w) and Commiphora wightii (Guggul, standardized to 2.5% guggulsterones, 12% w/w) extracts. Formulated via solvent casting in a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC, 20%) matrix with polyethylene glycol-600 (8%), propylene glycol (5%), and menthol (2%) as permeation enhancers, the patches achieve 0.2-0.5 mm thickness, skin-compatible pH (5.5-6.5), superior folding endurance ( 60 folds), and 82-88% cumulative drug release over 24 hours using Franz diffusion cells with rat skin. Evaluations confirm uniformity (weight variation 5%), low moisture (11-13%), and antimicrobial efficacy (16-20 mm zone vs. S. aureus). This eco-friendly system bypasses first-pass metabolism, enhances bioavailability via synergistic permeation, and suits chronic therapies.
