The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The invention provides an active Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) system designed to extend the shelf life and preserve the quality of strawberries. This system incorporates low-density polyethylene (LDPE) seal bags, silica gel as a desiccant to control moisture, and potassium permanganate as an ethylene absorber to reduce ripening and spoilage. By modifying the internal atmosphere with reduced oxygen and increased carbon dioxide, the system slows down the respiration and metabolic processes of the strawberries. The packaging maintains optimal humidity and reduces ethylene concentrations, effectively minimizing decay, moisture loss, and texture degradation. This approach significantly improves the freshness, flavor, and marketability of strawberries, reducing food waste and enhancing consumer satisfaction during storage and transportation.
