Abstract: ABSTRACT FRONT-HAUL OVERHEAD REDUCTION IN DISTRIBUTED BASE STATION ARCHITECTURES FOR BEYOND 5G SYSTEMS 5 The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for front-haul overhead reduction in a distributed base station. The method comprises estimating a channel in the distributed base station by an Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) Distributed Unit (O-DU) based on received Sounding Reference Signal (SRS), via the front-haul. Further determining, by the ODU, a plurality of channel gains and associated channel parameters based on the received SRS 10 and thereafter determining a plurality of switching time slots to perform switching between a combining technique and a quantization technique based on the plurality of channel parameters using a plurality of predetermined Look Up Tables (LUTs). The method further comprises sending, by the O-DU, the plurality of determined switching time slots to the O-RU, via the front-haul to facilitate switching, by the O-RU, between the combining technique and the 15 quantization technique for transmitting data from the O-RU to the O-DU.
