The system includes a rotary pump (202) fluidly coupled to one or more mechanical fuel injectors (201) associated with a cylinder of the internal combustion engine to supply pressurized fuel to the one or more mechanical fuel injectors. 10 Further, the system includes a solenoid (203) coupled to the rotary pump (202) configured to selectively discharge pressurized fuel from the one or more outlet ports (207) of the rotary pump to plurality of mechanical fuel injectors (201). Furthermore, the system (200) includes at least one sensor (10, 11, 12, 13) being configured to detect engine parameters, solenoid parameters and rotary pump parameters.
