Abstract: FUME HOOD The present disclosure provides a fume hood (1000) comprising an aerodynamic configuration of a baffle (60), an air foil (40), an exhaust port (50) and at least one by-pass section (70), along with IoT-based smart control system for improved containment, safety, and energy efficiency. The fume hood (1000) is configured to maintain effective containment at a reduced face velocity of about 0.3 m/s without requiring a variable air volume (VAV) control system. The fume hood (1000) further comprises an air-curtain system integrated within a sash track and the air foil (40) to form an airflow barrier across a front access opening, thereby preventing escape of toxic fumes. The fume hood (1000) also includes a smoke and laser self validation system for containment verification, a sensor module for monitoring operational parameters, and a fume hood controller (FHC) configured to process sensor data, track operational usage, generate maintenance alerts, and enable energy-efficient operation.
