MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641096984 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Tiruchirappalli on August 11, 2026, for Functionalized Polymer Membrane And Methods Thereof For Selective Recovery Of Nickel And Palladium.

Inventors include Baskaran, Gowthaman; and Vaduganathan, Karthik.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a functionalized polymer membrane comprising electrospun nanofibers of a polymer functionalized with a chelating agent, and to a process for preparing the functionalized polymer membrane. The present invention further relates to a process for selective recovery of nickel and palladium from a medium using the functionalized polymer membrane. The functionalized polymer membrane is configured to selectively adsorb nickel ions and palladium ions and to provide a visible colour change upon adsorption, thereby functioning as a visual indicator for selective recovery of nickel and palladium.
