Abstract: “FUNCTIONALIZED TETRAHYDROPYRIMIDINE–THIAZOLIDINONE SCAFFOLDS AND DERIVATIVES THEREOF AND ITS ANTICANCER ACTIVITY” Cancer is the global cause of death worldwide. Anticancer drug development is the need for today’s scenario. In present invention a series of substituted 6-Hydroxy-2- (2-substituted alkyl/aryl-4-oxo-thiazolidin-3-yl)-4-substituted phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile compounds were synthesized by the microwave- assisted synthesis system, and characterized by melting point, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HR-MS analysis. All the newly synthesized compounds were examined for their in vitro anticancer activity against breast cancer cell line MCF-7 by Sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. The compounds RS14 (GI50: 10 µg/ml), RS6 (GI50: 15 µg/ml), RS2 (GI50: 38 µg/ml), RS5 (GI50: 41 µg/ml) and RS13 (GI50: 44 µg/ml) exhibited significant cell growth inhibitory activity. These results indicate that compounds from the series showing in-vitro activity they could be lead compounds for further development of anticancer agents and good candidates for in-vivo anticancer activity.
