MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641095154 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 06, 2026, for Gate Access Control System Based On Motion-Triggered Gas Sensing And Sensor-Fusion Decision Making.
Inventors include Krithika L B; S Durga Prasad; Subbulakshmi V; R Lakshana; and Karthik R.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: A gate access control system (100) is provided. The gate access control system (100) comprises a passive infrared sensor (102), a gas sensor (104), a deterrence device (106), a processor (108), and a gate actuator (110). The passive infrared sensor (102) is configured to generate motion detection data indicative of movement within a monitoring region adjacent to a gate. The gas sensor (104) is configured to generate gas sensing data representative of an air composition in the monitoring region. The processor (108) is configured to initiate acquisition of the gas sensing data in response to the motion detection data, determine whether the air composition corresponds to an animal-associated condition based on gas concentration variations relative to a predetermined threshold, and execute a sensor-fusion decision process by combining the motion detection data and the gas sensing data to classify an access event as a permitted access condition or a restricted access condition.
