Abstract: ABSTRACT GEAR MESH STARTER GENERATOR ASSEMBLY FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE POWERED AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLES This disclosure relates generally to a gear mesh starter generator assembly for a mechanical power generation and transmission, and an electrical power generation in an internal combustion engine (ICE) powered automotive vehicle. Conventional belt driven starter generators (BSGs) have limitation with respect to a maximum torque transmission capacity due to friction between the serpentine belt and a pulley. The gear mesh starter generator assembly of the present disclosure comprises a starter generator with a rotor shaft, a planetary gear train, an electromagnetic clutch, and an idler gear. The planetary gear train is coaxially mounted on the rotor shaft of the starter generator and comprises four planet gear sets, a sun gear, an annulus gear, and a planet carrier. The four planet gear sets are arranged to revolve around the sun gear and each of the four planet gear sets comprises a first planet gear, and a second planet gear. [
