Abstract: The present invention discloses a gel-based cleaning composition for orthodontic retainers, clear aligners, and removable dental appliances. The composition comprises a xanthan gum hydrogel base, sorbitol, glycerin, decyl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, tea tree oil, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil or polysorbate 20, sodium gluconate, L-arginine, beta-cyclodextrin, potassium sorbate, sodium citrate, protease enzyme, and amylase enzyme. The gel is configured for direct topical application on an appliance surface and provides non-abrasive cleaning without prolonged soaking. The protease enzyme degrades protein-based biofilm material, while the amylase enzyme degrades starch-based residues. The formulation further supports antimicrobial activity, odour control, plaque weakening, pH stability, and material compatibility. The composition thereby removes biofilm, stains, and microbial contaminants while maintaining transparency, flexibility, and structural integrity of the appliance. Figure 1 will be the reference.
