Abstract: The present innovation (Genchew Gum) relates to an eco-friendly biodegradable herbal chewing gum composition and a method for its preparation. More particularly, the invention pertains to the fields of functional confectionery, biodegradable biomaterials, nutraceutical formulations, and plant-based oral delivery systems. The chewing gum composition comprises natural elastomeric materials, biodegradable plant-derived gums, botanical waxes, natural plasticizers, emulsifying agents, natural sweeteners, herbal softening agents, and nutraceutical botanical extracts formulated to replace conventional petroleum-derived synthetic polymeric gum bases. Chicle functions as the primary natural elastomer, while moringa gum serves as a biodegradable hydrocolloid and binding agent to form a renewable viscoelastic gum matrix with improved elasticity, chewability, texture stability, and moisture retention. Beeswax, carnauba wax, glycerol, lecithin, xylitol, • sorbitol, and broom creeper extract collectively enhance structural integrity, rheological behavior, flavor retention, and sensory acceptability. The formulation is further enriched with phytoactive extracts of Cucurbita pepo. Salvia hispanica, Linwn usiiatissimum, and Nigella sativa, which are rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. The chewing gum functions as a plant-based oral nutraceutical delivery platform capable of sustained release of bioactive phytochemicals during mastication, thereby exhibiting antioxidant activity, neuroprotective potential, and antidepressant-supportive properties. The invention provides an environmentally sustainable, commercially scalable, and physicochemically stable chewing gum composition suitable for functional confectionery, nutraceutical, and oral wellness applications while significantly reducing the environmental burden associated with non-biodegradable synthetic chewing gum waste.
