MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541007377 A) filed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development Lp on January 29, 2025, for Generic Interoperability Among Multicast Protocols.

Inventors include Raj, Anil; and Nandy, Tathagata.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: A first network device in a first segment of a network can operate as an RP of a first multicast protocol. A respective multicast route in the first segment is established based on the first multicast protocol. Operating as an RP, the first network device can receive a first join request of the first multicast protocol for a multicast group. The first network device can then generate a second join request for the multicast group based on a second multicast protocol and send the second join request to a second network device in an overlay network coupled to a plurality of segments of the network. Subsequently, the first network device can receive multicast traffic of the multicast group from a second segment of the network via the second network device.
