MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511001097 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi on January 06, 2025, for Genetically Engineered Zymomonas Mobilis For The Production Of Biochemicals.
Inventors include Ashish Misra; Arun Thapa; and Sakshi.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to genetically engineered Zymomonas mobilis strains obtained by knockout of genes and overexpression of specific genes to produce bioproducts other than ethanol like lactic acid, acetoin, 2,3-butanediol, alanine and valine among others at high yields and titres. The genetically modified Zymomonas mobilis strains of the present invention produce these bioproducts at shake flask and bioreactor levels without the need for antibiotics or inducers during cultivation process.
