MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641127066 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 25, 2026, for Geolocation-Corrected Multimodal Machine Learning System And Method For Snakebite Species Triage, Regional Antivenom-Efficacy Adjustment, And Hardware-Interlocked Vial Verification At The Point Of Care.
Inventors include Dr. R. Manjula; and Anant Agarwal.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a handheld cyber-physical snakebite triage and antivenom verification apparatus integrating image classification, geolocation-indexed venom-potency correction, temporal symptom fusion, and hardware-enforced vial verification. An on-device classification module (101) identifies candidate snake species from a captured image, while a GNSS receiver (102) provides bite-location coordinates for a geospatial correction processor (201, 203) to retrieve regional venom-potency information from a reference store (202) and generate a geographically corrected antivenom product ranking. A temporal fusion processor (302) updates the species-probability distribution and recommendation using sequential, timestamped clinical observations received through an interface (301). A confidence- scoring engine (402) initiates teleconsultation through a communication module (403) when confidence is insufficient or predictions materially disagree. A vial scanner (501) and hardware lockout relay (502) enforce product verification before releasing administration confirmation. A secure attestation module (601) maintains tamper- evident case records, supporting traceability and controlled regional reference-data updates.
