MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093849 A) filed by Amity University on November 29, 2024, for Green Re@ag Nanocomposite For Industrial Water Quality Control And Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Mujahid Ameen Khan; and Harishchandra Singh.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a green-synthesized Re@Ag nanocomposite (NC) for industrial water quality control and a method for its environmentally benign preparation. The nanocomposite is produced using aqueous NH4ReO4 and AgNO3 precursors (0.5–10 mM), 0.1% w/v potato starch as a natural stabilizer, and 0.005 M citric acid as a reducing agent under ambient conditions without external thermal or mechanical energy input. The resulting sub-nanometric (2 nm) Re@Ag NC exhibits uniform elemental distribution and high catalytic efficiency for rapid degradation of a wide range of pollutants, including azo dyes, nitroaromatic compounds, antimicrobial agents, and pesticidal contaminants. The nanocomposite demonstrates high elimination percentages and fast reaction kinetics across pollutant classes, enabling efficient treatment of complex wastewater streams. The invention provides an eco-safe, scalable, and energy-efficient material suitable for industrial effluent remediation and broad-spectrum environmental pollutant reduction.
