MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411087682 A) filed by Amity University on November 13, 2024, for Green Synthesis Method Of Ultra Small Rhenium Nanoparticles For Degradation Of Environmental And Industrial Pollutants.

Abstract: The present invention discloses green synthesis method of ultra small rhenium nanoparticles for degradation of environmental and industrial 5 pollutants. The present invention presents eco-friendly sub-nanometer (2 nm) ReNPs using natural substances like potato starch and citric acid. These NPs can quickly break down harmful pollutants containing azo ( N=N-) and nitro (-NO2) groups, showing their versatility and high performance. They demonstrate superior catalytic efficiency and faster 10 reduction rates of selected azo dyes and nitro compounds versus conventional routs, i.e., 1.45 min-1 for methylene blue, 0.265 min-1 for rhodamine B, 1.37 min-1 for methyl orange), 1.53 min-1 for 4-nitrophenol, and 0.45 min-1 for nitrobenzene. They provide an efficient, reusable, and eco-friendly solution for polluted water treatment with their practical 15 benefits, such as increased yield and longer shelf life.
