Abstract: Disclosed is a green synthesized silver nanoparticle composition for biomedical application. The composition comprises silver nanoparticles synthesized by reducing silver ions using a combined ethanolic extract of Ipomoea pes-caprae and Sargassum polycystum. The combined ethanolic extract includes bioactive constituents comprising flavonoids, phenolics, terpenoids, polysaccharides, or combinations thereof, which act as natural reducing and stabilizing agents during nanoparticle synthesis. The silver nanoparticles exhibit a surface plasmon resonance peak in a range of about 400 nm to about 450 nm, functional groups corresponding to hydroxyl, carbonyl, and C–O groups, and crystalline nanoscale structure. The silver nanoparticles reduce viability of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner and further provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. The synergistic plant–algae mediated nanoparticle system upregulates pro-apoptotic gene expression and downregulates anti-apoptotic and pro-inflammatory gene expression, thereby providing anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and apoptosis- inducing activity.
