Abstract: This invention presents the development of a sustainable nano-enhanced biodegradable bioplastic film derived from maize stalk agricultural waste reinforced with green synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) for packaging applications. Cellulose extracted from maize stalk biomass is utilized as the primary biopolymer, while ZnO nanoparticles synthesized using neem leaf extract are incorporated to improve mechanical strength, antimicrobial activity, UV protection, and thermal stability. Glycerol and citric acid are added to enhance flexibility and water resistance of the film. The developed bioplastic film offers an eco-friendly and biodegradable alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics while promoting agricultural waste utilization and green nanotechnology for sustainable packaging materials.
