Abstract: SMART DIRECTIONAL HEARING AID WITH FACE-GUIDED FOCUS, DIRECTION DETECTION AND DISTANCE-AWARE EMERGENCY SOUND DETECTION A smart directional hearing aid device and method are disclosed for providing hearing-impaired individuals with face-guided audio amplification, emergency sound detection, directional sound localization, and distance-aware alert generation. The device comprises an input layer (201) including a MEMS microphone array and a face orientation sensor configured to acquire spatial audio and head orientation data (101), a signal processing layer (202) configured to perform beamforming and noise filtering to identify sound direction (102), an emergency detection module (203) configured to classify vehicle horns, sirens, fire alarms, and doorbells while determining sound direction and estimating distance (104), a decision logic module (203) configured to determine alert intensity based on the estimated distance (105), and a multi-modal alert system (207) comprising directional vibration motors and LED indicators configured to deliver graduated, distance-based alerts (106, 107, 108) and direction-based alerts (110, 111, 112). The associated method includes acquiring spatial audio and head orientation data (101), performing face-guided beamforming and noise filtering (102), detecting and classifying emergency sounds (103, 104), determining sound direction and distance (105, 109), and generating distance-aware and direction-aware alerts (106-112) prior to delivering processed audio to the user (113). The invention improves communication clarity, reduces listening fatigue, and enhances personal safety for hearing-impaired individuals in real-world environments.
