Abstract: The present invention relates to a hail protection system for a vehicle. The system comprises a transparent protective sheet (20), an upper frame housing (11), a spool assembly (12), a motor assembly (13), guide rail assemblies (30), a plurality of hail detection sensors (51, 52), and a controller (60). The protective sheet (20) is stored in a rolled configuration within the upper frame housing (11) positioned adjacent to a vehicle’s front windshield and/or a vehicle’s rear windshield of the vehicle. The protective sheet (20) comprises a transparent multi-layer polycarbonate structure having a hexagonal honeycomb core. The plurality of hail detection sensors (51, 52) are configured to detect hail activity and transmit corresponding signals to the controller (60). Upon detection of a hail condition, the controller (60) causes deployment of the protective sheet (20) along the guide rail assemblies (30) to protect the windshield from hailstone impacts. The controller (60) is further configured to perform a first-stage partial deployment and a second-stage deployment based on detected hail conditions. The system further includes a backup battery (80) configured to enable operation when the vehicle engine is switched off and automatic retraction of the protective sheet (20) after cessation of the hail condition.
