MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641082795 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on July 06, 2026, for Hamstring Load Monitoring Garments With Integrated Emg And Stretch Sensors.

Inventors include Manish Reddy B; Dr. S. Suji; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: This project introduces a wearable smart garment designed to monitor hamstring muscle load using integrated Electromyography (EMG) sensors and stretch (strain) sensors. The objective is to provide athletes, physiotherapists, and clinicians with real-time, accurate, and continuous monitoring of hamstring activity to prevent injuries and optimize performance. The garment incorporates flexible textile-based EMG electrodes, stretch-sensitive filament pathways, and a microcontroller system capable of processing and transmitting data wirelessly. It addresses the limitations of traditional hamstring assessment methods, such as subjective observation and intermittent measurements.Initial testing demonstrates reliable signal capture, comfortable wearability, and improved accuracy in detecting muscle activation patterns and strain levels. This innovation enables early detection of overload conditions, supports rehabilitation monitoring, and provides data suitable for sports science research and personalized training programs.
