MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411094226 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges on November 30, 2024, for Hand-Held Insect Trapping Assistive Device.

Inventors include Uday Pratap Singh Thakur; Dr. Anuradha Barda; Dr. Anirudh; Indu Goyal; Sapna; and Rajpreet Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: A hand-held insect trapping assistive device, comprising an elongated body 101 consisting a proximal end, attached with a C-shaped handle 102, the handle 102 is accessed by a user for positioning a distal end of the body 101 close to proximity to an insect present on a fixed surface/vertical support, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 104 installed in the body 101 for capturing multiple images in vicinity of the body 101 to determine distance of the insect from the distal end, a telescopically operated link 103 integrated in between the proximal and distal end for positioning the distal end in proximity to the insect, a circular disc 201 attached on the distal end having multiple chambers 202 of varying dimensions arranged along perimeter of the disc 201 via a motorized circular slider, a robotic arm attached on the disc 201 to grab the chamber with the trapped insect.
