Abstract: A portable handheld forensic device for gait pattern analysis from shoeprints is disclosed. The device uses an optical imaging or 3D scanning module to capture spatial data of sequential shoeprints at crime scenes. A distance measuring module calculates stride length and spatial separation. An onboard processor runs a gait analysis algorithm to compute stride length, step width, foot angle, and asymmetry, reconstructing a gait signature from static impressions without live subjects. The device displays real-time feedback on a touchscreen and stores data for court documentation. It supports UV/IR modes for latent prints and works on dust, mud, or lifted prints. The invention provides objective, automated gait reconstruction for suspect identification and event reconstruction, addressing the lack of field tools for forensic gait analysis from shoeprints
