Inventors include Jambunathan, Vasumathy; Poovada Venkata, Hanumanth Kumar; and Sundararaj, Silambarasan.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems that eliminate the need for a dedicated interface between access service network (ASN) gateways for a successful handover between base stations served by different ASN gateways in a satellite communications system. The disclosed technologies also perform load balancing between ASN gateways and reduce the number of mobile stations affected by an ASN gateway going down. The disclosed technologies include abstracting the interface between a base station and an ASN gateway by advertising a single logical endpoint for all ASN gateways to each base station in a satellite communications system. In addition, the disclosed technologies include extracting subscriber context information into a distributed, clustered data store to provide easy access to the subscriber context information to each ASN gateway in the satellite communications system.
