MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071918 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on June 10, 2026, for Helmet-Based Safety Enforcement And Rider Assistance System.

Inventors include Ashis Tripathy; Arunabh; Armaan Garnayak; and Aaradhy Gangwar.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: A helmet safety enforcement system (100) for a two-wheeler vehicle is disclosed. The system comprises a helmet unit (102) including a heart rate sensor (112), a microcontroller (106), a front camera (114), an ultrasonic sensor (116), and at least one alert device comprising a speaker (110) and a visual display unit (118), and a bike unit (120) connected with an ignition circuit of the vehicle (124). The microcontroller (106) validates physiological cardiac waveform data to generate an authorization signal upon detection of biologically periodic cardiac activity within a predefined physiological range. The authorization signal is transmitted periodically to the bike unit (120) and permits ignition only while continuously received. The front camera (114) generates object detection data and the ultrasonic sensor (116) generates distance measurement data, and the alert device is activated based on evaluation of the object detection data and the distance measurement data to indicate a hazard condition.
