MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631062747 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Rourkela Nit Rourkela on May 18, 2026, for Heparin Encapsulated Polycaprolactone Nanoparticles For Wound Healing And Method For Manufacturing Thereof.

Inventors include John, Ms. Elizabeth; Biswas, Dr. Amit; Mr. Mahibalan T; and Smita, Ms. Soumya Shuvra.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a method for making Heparin encapsulated nanoparticles. The said method comprising dispersing an aqueous solution of Heparin in an organic polymer solution, which comprises one or more of Polycaprolactone (PCL) and Dicholoromethane (DCM), or a combination thereof. The method thereafter involves emulsifying the said solution, and adding a surfactant to the said emulsion to form a water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) double emulsion. The organic phase obtained therefrom is evaporated to allow the said PCL to encapsulate the heparin to form the nanoparticles. The Heparin encapsulated nanoparticles are obtained as precipitate post the evaporation. The obtained nano-capsulated particles are anticoagulant, possesses anti- inflammatory and angiogenic properties, making it highly beneficial in wound healing.
