Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, on a processor using a hierarchical store queue. In one aspect, a system comprises a processor that is configured to receive a load instruction having an address corresponding to an entry in the hierarchical store queue. The processor performs the store-to-load forwarding process for the load instruction including performing a hierarchical search to find the entry in the hierarchical store queue, where performing the hierarchical search includes searching a first partition of the hierarchical store queue for the entry before searching a second partition of the hierarchical store queue. The processor reads a value of the entry from the hierarchical store queue for the load instruction.
