Abstract: High-Performance Lithium-Sulfur Battery with Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Sulfur Cathode Abstract The present invention discloses a high-performance lithium- sulfur (Li-S) battery employing a carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced sulfur cathode for enhanced electrochemical performance and long-term stability. The cathode comprises 70-80 wt.% sulfur uniformly embedded within a conductive CNT network possessing a specific surface area of 450-650 m2 g_I. The developed battery delivers an initial specific discharge capacity of 1450-1650 mAh g“J at 0.1 C and retains more than 88% of its capacity after 500 chargedischarge cycles. The CNT framework improves electrical conductivity to approximately 12-18 S cmH and effectively suppresses polysulfide dissolution. The cell exhibits a coulombic efficiency exceeding 99.2% and an energy density of 420-520 Wh kg-1. The reinforced cathode architecture enables sulfur utilization above 85% while maintaining excellent rate capability up to 5 C. The invention provides a cost-effective and scalable approach for developing nextgeneration high-energy-density rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles, portable electronics, and grid-scale energy storage applications.
