MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411081486 A) filed by Arasilk Private Limited on April 25, 2025, for High-Performance Spider Silk Fibers From Modified Artificial Spidroins.

Inventors include Surya Pratap Seniya; and Yashaswi Singh.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The invention provides a high-performance spider silk fiber and preparation method thereof using engineered spidroins inspired from Caerostris darwini. These spidroins are modified with amyloid or MaSp peptide sequences to enhance tensile strength and elasticity. Utilizing recombinant expression in Escherichia coli and an optimized, cost-effective purification process, the spidroins are spun into fibers with exceptional mechanical properties. The fibers are lightweight, biodegradable, and suitable for various applications, including military-grade materials, high-strength composites, and sustainable textiles. This innovation addresses the limitations of synthetic, petroleum-based fibers, offering an environmentally friendly alternative with superior performance for industrial and commercial use.
