Helicopters cannot become airborne since the weather remains packed with snow drizzling for days . Lines of communication are sheared due to creation of snow obstacles and telephonic cables get damaged . The current method of using an excavator loader is crude , yet it is the only way to open the way . 33 workers were rescued on 28 February 2025 (Friday) & 17 were rescued on 01 March 2025 .Specialised Reconnaissance Radars , Trained Dogs & Drones were used . Eight persons who died were extricated after 60 hours . Shakujo in Japanese means a Walking Stick and Himchattra means Umbrella in Snow in Sanskrit . A walking support stick get converted as a cover against rolling snow and in case of a burial , staggers the impact as also creates a gap to impede asphyxiation. It thereafter emits light , whistle sound , incense sublimating odours , stain and gap making drain powder to ease the gap inside the avalanche snow trap . Like a standard avalanche rescue , the effort is not only from the rescuer but also from the one rescued .
