MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641084973 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on July 10, 2026, for Hybrid Energy Harvesting System And Method For Vehicular Transit Surfaces.
Inventors include K. M. Monica; Aditya Babu S; Vignesh Karthikeyan; and Aditya S.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: A hybrid energy harvesting system (100) may include a load-receiving structural member (104) disposed on, within, or beneath a vehicular transit surface (102) to undergo displacement in response to a load generated by movement of a vehicle (150). An energy conversion assembly (106) operatively coupled to load-receiving structural member (104) to convert mechanical energy produced by displacement into electrical energy. At least one sensing unit (108) to detect at least one operational parameter associated with vehicular interaction with load-receiving structural member (104) and generate real-time sensing data representative of detected operational parameter. A control unit (110) operatively coupled to sensing unit (108) and energy conversion assembly (106) may receive and process sensing data to regulate operation of energy conversion assembly (106) to optimize electrical energy generation. An energy management unit (112) may collect, condition, regulate, and distribute generated electrical energy for storage or supply to an external electrical load (170).
