MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611079787 A) filed by Chandigarh University on June 29, 2026, for Hybrid Footstep Energy Recovery System With Intelligent Power Management.
Inventor includes Shivani Goyal.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile device charging system configured to convert human walking step energy into usable electrical power. The system comprises a mechanical energy capture module including a load plate, rack-and-pinion mechanism, one-way clutch, and micro-generator configured to convert walking-induced mechanical motion into electrical energy. The generated electrical power is processed through a power conditioning module comprising a rectifier, DC-DC boost converter, and hybrid energy storage unit including a super capacitor and rechargeable battery. An intelligent microcontroller-based energy management unit regulates energy harvesting, storage, and power delivery to provide a stable output suitable for charging mobile devices through wired or wireless interfaces. The system is compact, portable, and adaptable for integration into footwear, wearable modules, or energy-harvesting floor structures. By providing efficient energy conversion, stable power output, and user-friendly operation, the invention offers a sustainable and self-powered solution for charging portable electronic devices during normal walking activities.
