Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method (900) for automated generation and optimization of diagnostic test cases for Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The method (900) comprises receiving (901) multi-source diagnostic logs from field-reported issues, vehicle tests, and laboratory-generated logs and standardising (903), using parsing, the received logs into structured data records. The method (900) then comprises decoding (905), using one or more ISO standards, the structured data records to extract protocol level features and to generate modified diagnostic transactions and generating (907), using at least one artificial intelligence (AI) model, synthetic diagnostic transactions representing protocol compliant diagnostic variations based on the protocol level features. Thereafter, the method (900) comprises filtering (909), using a fitness function, the synthetic diagnostic transactions to generate an optimized subset of diagnostic transactions, and converting (911) the optimized subset of diagnostic transactions into standardized schemas and generate an executable test suite based on the standardized schemas.
