MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411093544 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on November 29, 2024, for Hybrid Solar And Rainwater-Powered Micro-Hydropower Rooftop Energy System.

Inventors include Anurag Kumar Jha; Dr Satnam Singh; Sweety Sehgal; Dr. Akanksha Sharma; and Chaure Suyash Rajesh.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The invention provides a hybrid rooftop energy system that combines solar power and rainwater-driven micro-hydropower to generate continuous, autonomous electricity. This system harnesses two renewable energy sources to ensure reliable power generation regardless of weather conditions, making it ideal for urban rooftops. The system incorporates photovoltaic panels to capture solar energy and a micro-hydropower turbine powered by collected rainwater, both of which feed into an energy storage unit. The energy stored can be used when sunlight or rainfall is insufficient, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply. A smart energy management system optimizes energy flow based on real-time conditions, ensuring efficient use of the available resources. Designed for scalability, this system provides an eco- friendly, off-grid solution that reduces reliance on non-renewable energy sources and minimizes environmental impact. It is particularly suited for urban environments, where rooftop space is underutilized and offers a sustainable path toward energy independence. [To be published along with figure 1]
