Abstract: HYBRID SOLAR ASSISTED INFRARED DRYER This invention relates to a solar-assisted infrared dryer designed for drying perishable agricultural products such as chilli, ginger, and turmeric. The invention was designed using computer-aided design software, and Figure 1 illustrates the designed images of the whole dryer set-up. The dryer was developed using low-cost food-grade materials, and Figure 2 shows the original image of the developed dryer. The system features a solar power setup with at least two solar photovoltaic modules (101) for capturing solar radiation, which is stored in a battery (103) as a direct current and converted to alternating current using an inverter (104) to power the infrared dryer assembly (102). The infrared dryer assembly comprises a drying chamber (102) housing drying trays (107) and medium wave infrared lamps (105) that emit targeted infrared energy, complemented by an air regulating fan (106) to ensure uniform airflow. A control subsystem that includes a temperature controller (108) and a time controller (109) which precisely manages the drying cycle. The Heater indicator (110) and power indicator (111) work as the operating indicators of the dryer. The integration of these components allows efficient, sustainable drying of agricultural products and provides optimal performance and energy management.
