Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is an Indus inscription encoding system comprising a support platform, an image capturing device, an illumination unit, and a processing unit. The support platform comprises an inscription-receiving region to receive an Indus inscription image or an inscription-bearing article in a fixed imaging position. The image capturing device is mounted above the support platform along a defined optical capture axis and captures an input Indus inscription image. The illumination unit illuminates a sequence of Indus symbols during capture. The processing unit preprocesses the input image by binarization and morphological transformation, segments the cleaned image into individual symbol images, compares each symbol image with stored symbol data, determines a symbol identity and symbol category, generates a confidence estimate, generates a multi-entry symbol code for each symbol, and arranges the symbol codes in order to generate an encoded string representing the Indus inscription.
