Abstract: The present invention relates to a drainage system and method for a horizontal tank water heater comprises an inlet interface (100), a drain actuator (400), and a drain pipe assembly (500) having a coupling interface (504) configured to receive the drain actuator (400). The inlet interface (100) includes a first elongated body (200) and a second elongated body (300) having a closed end (304) with a plurality of holes (306) extending toward a lowermost region of a storage tank (104). Upon connection of the drain pipe assembly (500) to a multi-function safety valve (MFSV) (600), the drain actuator (400) engages and displaces a spring-biased plunger (602) to maintain the MFSV (600) in an open condition. A sealed flow path through a hose (502) enables siphon-assisted flow, resulting in rapid and substantially complete evacuation of fluid, including residual water, without removal of the MFSV (600).
