Abstract: ABSTRACT INTEGRATED LANDFILL LEACHATE TREATMENT SYSTEM USING CHEMICAL AND ALGAE-BASED BIOLOGICAL PROCESSING The present invention relates to an integrated landfill leachate treatment system configured for efficient treatment and purification of municipal solid waste leachate. More particularly, the invention discloses a sequential treatment system incorporating equalization, screening, sedimentation, chemical treatment, algae-based biological processing, and clarification stages for removal of organic, inorganic, and microbial contaminants from landfill leachate. The invention comprises an equalization tank, screening unit, sedimentation chamber, chemical treatment reactor utilizing calcium hydroxide, algae cultivation treatment unit, and final clarification system configured to achieve enhanced pollutant removal efficiency. The disclosed system effectively reduces chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), suspended solids, nutrients, pathogens, and harmful contaminants present in landfill leachate generated from municipal solid waste disposal facilities. The integrated treatment methodology improves operational efficiency, reduces environmental pollution, enhances groundwater protection, and provides a sustainable and cost- effective solution for landfill leachate management. The invention is particularly suitable for municipal landfill sites, industrial waste disposal facilities, decentralized treatment units, and integrated waste management infrastructure.
