MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541001735 A) filed by Ashok Leyland Limited on January 08, 2025, for Integrated Method And System For Real Time Estimation Of Diesel Engine Particulate Matter.

Inventors include Harish V; Gokul Kumar E; Viswaprabha Nk; Kosalaraman Kumar; and Krishnan Sadagopan.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: An integrated method and system comprising an engine exhaust system (102), an After Treatment System (ATS) (104) and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) (106) of which a plurality of parameters are measured by a plurality of sensors (108) for real time estimation of diesel engine particulate matter. A control unit (110) coupled to the plurality of sensors (108) to transmit the measured parameters. The control unit (110) comprises a mode selection unit (112) for selecting a first mode or a second mode to estimate a particulate matter (220, 320, 420). A specific mass of particulate matter per cycle is obtained from integral of particulate matter and integral of power consumed by a diesel engine. Thereby, the present invention is capable of controlling emissions, ensures compliance with current regulation standards and minimizes environmental impact.
