Abstract: INTEGRATED MULTI-MODAL DRONE BASED SENSING SYSTEM FOR EARLY DETECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF CROP DISEASES ABSTRACT The invention discloses an integrated multi-modal drone-based sensing system for early detection and identification of crop diseases. The system comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with a multispectral imaging sensor and a high-resolution RGB camera for comprehensive crop monitoring. The multispectral sensor captures aerial data to generate vegetation indices, including Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), for assessing overall crop health and localizing stressed or diseased regions within an agricultural field. The RGB camera captures close-up leaf-level images of crops in the identified regions for disease identification and classification using image analysis. The system operates in a two-stage workflow enabling efficient large-area monitoring and targeted disease detection. A processing unit analyses the acquired data and provides results through a farm application interface displaying crop health maps, disease localization and identification outputs. The invention enables early disease detection, targeted intervention and improved agricultural productivity while reducing crop losses and promoting sustainable farming practices.
