Inventors include Dr. Arbab Husain; Dr. Afreen Khanam; Mrs. Ashu Rathi; Er. Ghayyum Husain; and Mr. Arun Kumar Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (100) for integrated detection of microbial species and carcinogenic compounds in smokeless tobacco products. The system (100) comprises a sample acquisition and homogenization module (1), analytical sample preparation module (2), microbial detection and identification module (3), carcinogenic constituent extraction module (4), carcinogenic compound detection module (5), integrated data correlation and profile generation module (6), and quality assurance, comparative assessment and output module (7). A representative SLT sample is homogenized and prepared for coordinated microbiological and chemical analysis. Microbial species are detected using culture, microscopic, biochemical, and/or molecular techniques, while extracted chemical constituents are analyzed by HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, or equivalent techniques for carcinogenic compounds including tobacco-specific nitrosamines. The resulting microbial and chemical data are collectively analyzed to produce an integrated product-specific profile suitable for quality control, safety assessment, research, monitoring, and regulatory evaluation.
