Inventors include Dr. Chodagam. Lakshmi Poornima; Mr. Venkata Naga Kishore Thota; and Dr. Chalamalasetty Srinivasa Rao.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: An intelligent modular manufacturing workstation with adaptive material handling and quality inspection is disclosed. The workstation comprises a base framework with standardized mechanical, power, and data interfaces carrying interchangeable modules, including at least one processing module, an adaptive material handling module, and a quality inspection module, each module presenting a machine-readable self-description from which a workstation controller discovers the configuration and auto-calibrates newly connected modules. The handling module comprises a robotic manipulator with an adjustable gripping device, perception sensors, and trained machine learning models that identify each workpiece, estimate its pose even in unstructured presentation, and plan and execute individualized, sensor-guided grasps with autonomous exception recovery, eliminating dedicated fixtures. The inspection module evaluates every workpiece in-station against the product specification using trained vision models, binding results to workpiece identity for traceability, while the controller disposes units and adjusts processing and handling parameters in a closed loop. Changeover to new variants is derived automatically from digital product definitions or demonstrations.
