Abstract: Abstract The development of efficient carbon capture solutions is necessary because the burning of gas and petroleum has caused a rapid increase in atmospheric CO2, exacerbating climate change. Membrane-based CO2 separation has become a feasible path to carbon neutrality in the energy and industrial sectors. Polymeric membranes have benefits like low cost, processability, and mechanical flexibility compare with metallic and ceramic inorganic membranes offer superior selectivity and thermal durability, in this project, watermelon rind, which is rich in cellulose and pectin, was processed into a biodegradable membrane. The extracted biopolymers were blended and cast into thin films to form an eco-friendly material with desirable mechanical and adsorption properties. The final membrane exhibited a uniform structure, stable water flow, and strong pollutant absorption ability. This paper reviews the comparative studies between membranes with and without PVA revealed that PVA acts as an effective polymeric binder, improving the structural integrity and pollutant adsorption capacity. The developed membrane demonstrated up to 85% reduction in CO2, NOx, and Sulphur pollutants with a notable decrease in CO2 concentration also the stability and effective adsorption of the membrane were confirmed by analyzing the functional groups, surface morphology, and crystalline structure using FTIR, SEM, and XRD Analysis.
