Abstract: ABSTRACT INTELLIGENT SAFETY SYSTEM FOR SIDE STAND AND KILL SWITCH IN MOTOR VEHICLES A method for enhancing motor vehicle safety ensures protection against accidental side stand deployment or kill switch activation at high speeds. The method continuously monitors the states of the side stand and kill switch, preventing ignition activation if either is engaged. When the side stand or kill switch is activated while the vehicle speed exceeds a pre-set threshold (e.g., 20 km/hr), the vehicle control unit (VCU) does not immediately turn off the motor. Instead, it activates a configurable warning system for a safe interval (e.g., 5-10 seconds), providing alerts via a blinking display cluster, buzzer, and intermittent horn sound. After the safe interval, the VCU shuts off the motor to prevent unsafe conditions. If the side stand or kill switch is disengaged during the interval, the motor remains on. In the event of a CAN failure, speed is estimated using GPS/accelerometer data or assumed, ensuring the warning system is triggered.
