The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an Intelligent Traffic Surveillance and Multi-Violation Detection System Using YOL0v8-Based Real-Time Object Detection for automated traffic monitoring and road safety enhancement. The system comprises a video acquisition-unit, a—YOL0v8-based object-detection-module,-a-DeepSOR-T- multi-object tracking module, a traffic violation detection module, an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) module using Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and a processing unit for generating and storing violation records. The proposed system accurately detects vehicles, riders, helmets, and license plates while identifying multiple traffic violations such as helmet non-compliance, triple riding, over-speeding, and unsafe inter-vehicle distance in real time. By integrating object detection, tracking, violation analysis, and license plate recognition into a unified framework, the invention provi'des high detection accuracy, reliable vehicle identification, and reduced false alarms. The system employs edge computing to minimize processing latency, reduce dependence on cloud infrastructure, and enable continuous real-time operation. Violation details, including the vehicle registration number, violation type, timestamp, and captured evidence, are automatically stored and can be transmitted to traffic enforcement authorities for further action. The invention significantly reduces manual intervention, improves traffic law enforcement efficiency, enhances road safety, and provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for intelligent transportation systems and smart city applications.
