Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent underwater optical–acoustic hybrid communication network designed for long-duration underwater monitoring and data transmission. The system comprises hybrid IoT nodes integrating a high-speed optical transceiver with photovoltaic energy harvesting and an acoustic modem with piezoelectric energy harvesting to support energy-neutral operation. An embedded artificial intelligence engine analyzes environmental conditions, predicts channel quality, and estimates harvested energy to dynamically select the optimal communication mode, adjust transmission parameters, and schedule data transmissions. The network operates through a self-healing mesh architecture capable of automatically rerouting data during link degradation or node failure, thereby maintaining reliable connectivity in turbid or dynamic underwater environments. Gateway nodes aggregate network data and select the most efficient uplink path to surface or shore systems. A closed-loop feedback mechanism enables periodic AI model updates, improving network performance, adaptability, and reliability over extended deployment periods
