MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611104119 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 29, 2026, for Intelligent Vehicle Engine Fire Detection And Automatic Suppression System.

Inventors include Jagmeet Singh; and Anshpreet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based automatic fire detection and suppression system for vehicle engine compartments. The system comprises a plurality of temperature, smoke, and flame sensors configured to continuously monitor engine conditions and an AI-based control unit configured to perform multi-sensor data fusion for accurate fire detection while minimizing false alarms. Upon confirmation of a fire event, the control unit automatically actuates a fire suppression assembly including a pressurized extinguishing agent container, control valve, distribution pipes, and discharge nozzles to suppress the fire. The system further initiates automatic engine shutdown, unlocks vehicle doors, transmits GPS-based emergency notifications, and records operational data for subsequent analysis. Fire-resistant pipes routed through the engine compartment and bonnet provide comprehensive extinguishing coverage. The invention provides an intelligent, autonomous, reliable, and cost-effective fire protection solution suitable for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and electric vehicles.
