Abstract: Cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are progressive neurodegenerative conditions that severely impact memory, thinking, and behavior, especially in elderly individuals. Early detection and continuous monitoring are crucial to slow disease progression and improve quality of life. However, regular visits to neurologists and clinics for EEG-based cognitive assessment pose significant challenges for elderly populations, particularly those with mobility constraints, limited access to specialists, and reliance on caregivers. This invention introduces a wearable EEG headband system for non-invasive, continuous brain activity monitoring and early detection of cognitive disorders. The headband comprises dry electrodes capable of capturing brain signals across various frequency bands, including Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. These signals are wirelessly transmitted to a cloud-based analytical engine for advanced processing. The system leverages Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) to compare the user’s EEG patterns with a historical case library of Alzheimer’s, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and other cognitive disorders. Additionally, a Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) module augments the case library by synthesizing realistic EEG data using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), thus improving diagnostic accuracy and addressing data scarcity issues. An Artificial Intelligence (Al) algorithm analyzes the EEG data to detect abnormal patterns indicative of cognitive decline. The system is configured to provide real-time alerts to caregivers and clinicians through a connected mobile or web application. This facilitates remote monitoring, reducing the need for frequent hospital visits and enabling early intervention without dependence on neurologists for routine assessments. The proposed headband system eliminates the complexities of traditional EEG tests, offering a convenient, pain-free, and user-friendly solution for proactive cognitive health management. It significantly improves accessibility to cognitive care for elderly populations and supports caregivers in monitoring brain health in real time.
