Abstract: A method for using modified or adjusted information associated with decoder-side intra mode derivation (DIMD) for encoding or decoding a pixel block is provided. A video coder receives data to be encoded or decoded as a current block of pixels of a current picture of a video. The video coder analyzes samples neighboring the current block to generate a first set of texture analysis (DIMD) information and/or the video coder obtains or derives at least one second set of texture analysis information associated with the current block or at least one reference block. The video coder generates a final set of texture analysis information based on the first set of texture analysis information, the at least one second set of texture analysis information, or both. The video coder encodes or decodes the current block based on the final set of texture analysis information or stores the final set of texture analysis information.
